Effie is a fluffy black/brown older lady (around 12 or so years old) with the biggest green eyes; she weighs around 4kg. She’s been in her foster home since the beginning of January. She was caught as a feral cat to be spayed over 10 years ago and went onto being adopted. Her exact age is unknown, but she still looks like a kitten to us. With her past of being a feral girl, she does hold her own when it comes to her personal space and socialising with other pets. She’s grown used to being handled, picked up and groomed by her fosterers, but she will tell you if she doesn’t like something. In her foster home, she currently lives with two other younger cats and a dog, which, if she isn’t bothered or they encroach on her personal space, they get along. She has shown very little interest in playing with them, but has occasionally shown signs of affection by letting one of the other cats groom her & nuzzling up alongside the dog. She has had visiting younger children, whom she has run to and gotten on with from the start. She really is very sociable with her foster humans, she follows them around, comes when her name is called and sleeps with them in bed every night. She is currently on a mixed hypoallergenic diet. She loves her wet food more than her kibble, but she will graze throughout the day on her biscuits. Due to her past, she will also scavenge for scraps. Stress can cause her to have an unsettled tummy but this is something which has been monitored and checked by the vets and is being managed with her diet. Her favourite pastimes are spent sleeping on the windowsill/beds or anything soft & warm, she also loves to sit and watch the birds. Unlike her foster siblings, she has no interest in climbing and can sometimes struggle to get up onto the counters to get her food. Due to her old age, she sometimes needs to be picked up to be fed, but in a home without a dog, she would happily eat from her bowl on the floor. Effie really is a princess who likes to take things calmly, and on her terms. Once settled, she really is a companion and is a pleasure to be around, as you are rewarded with snuggles, purring and sweet chirps of affection.

Charlie is looking for his forever home. He is a 14-month-old with so much personality. He loves to play and curl up on your lap, and adores a bit of chicken! Unfortunately, Charlie was not accepted by the older cat in his last home, so he has come to us looking for his place in the world. Charlie has been an indoor cat and would be fine with kids and small dogs, but not other cats. He is neutered, flea/ wormed, and comes with 5 weeks free insurance.

Tilly And Willow

PLEASE READ THE FULL WRITE-UP. This is a very long post. Telephone enquiries ONLY, messages will not be responded to. Donation and home visit apply, call 07591 976006 10 am-6 pm

Tilly is 4 years old, spayed, microchipped, flea/wormed (black). Tilly is an outgoing cat who loves to explore, make friends, and sleep in the sun. From her first day in her foster home, she wanted her head scratched and her tummy rubbed, and since then has gone on to make herself at home. Tilly would be happy in a home where she can get plenty of head scratches and potentially have a safe place to explore outside.

Willow is 2 years old, spayed, microchipped, flea/wormed (grey and white). Willow is a playful cat who has taken a while to come out of her shell since moving into her foster home. She has started to gain confidence, and now seems happy to come out from her favourite hiding place in the wardrobe, and loves to pounce on and chase her toys. Willow is still wary of humans and isn’t yet comfortable being touched, so she will take time to feel safe but will accept a treat from your hand when she feels comfortable. A home with older children and no other pets would be best

Nula, Blaze, and Susie

Nula’s story, we received a call from a lady saying she had opened her back door to find Nula and her newborn babies in her covered porch. We arranged to go around and get them all to safety. She was extremely protective of her babies, so we were unsure as to whether she was feral or not. So we decided to set a trap while waiting in the car for her to go into the trap. We had left the rear of the car open, and unbeknownst to us, a naughty neighbour’s cat got in. The neighbour arrived home and spotted him and said My cat is in the back of your car so we then explained why we were there and what we were doing. It turned out that Nula was his cat and that she had escaped from their house 12 months previously, and they had tried unsuccessfully to get her back in. In the meantime, they had bought a puppy, and Nula really dislikes dogs, and they didn’t have a safe place to put her and her kittens.

Because of the fact that she had been on the streets for 12 months, she was not in the best of condition, being pregnant and then trying to raise 5 kittens as well as look after herself, we took her in with the 5 kittens and gave her all the love and support she needed lots of cooked chicken and protein rich food to build her up and produce milk. All the little family started doing well, and to our amazement, 3 weeks later, the kittens were starting to eat solid food. She continued to nurse the kittens successfully, but unfortunately, when the kittens were 6 weeks old, Nula became unwell. She was taken to our vet and diagnosed with the start of cat flu. She was given antibiotics, and after advice from the vet, and because the kittens were eating, we separated her from the kittens. A few days later, Little Man and Sally were showing symptoms and were also given antibiotics. At Nula’s next checkup, we were advised to test her for Feline Herpes and Chlamydophila virus, and unfortunately, herpesvirus was detected, but not the Chlamydophila. This also means her kittens could carry the herpesvirus. The advice from the vets is that they are all vaccinated and receive the booster every year, as with all vaccines, it may not stop them getting cat flu, but it won’t be as severe; they can lead a normal life, including going out, but would need to be quarantined should they become symptomatic. People who want to research more about the virus to make an informed decision as to whether to adopt this is the link the vet provided.

Nula is approximately 2 years old, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and flea/wormed. She is the most loving cat you could ever meet, dislikes dogs, but does like to have a good conversation with humans. She could live with a vaccinated cat or one that carries the same virus. She is semi-long-haired and loves to be brushed and will roll over for belly tickles. Her kittens are 11 weeks old, microchipped, vaccinated, flea/wormed, and the donation covers them to be spayed or neutered at our vets once they weigh enough. They love to climb and chase each other, can be homed in pairs or on their own.
